Step back in time and discover the rich heritage of The Village in the City.
Join us for the return of the Streetsville Historic Walking Tours, happening mid-May through mid-October. This season is extra special—Streetsville was officially designated a Heritage Conservation District earlier this year, making it the perfect time to explore our village’s historic charm.
Led by local historian Richard Collins, these engaging tours take you through the heart of Streetsville, home to the highest concentration of historic buildings in Mississauga. You’ll hear fascinating stories about the people who lived here, and see up-close the landmarks that shaped the community. Some of these key landmarks include the Montreal House, Timothy Street House, Abigail Street House, The Franklin House, Streetsville United Church, Streetsville Memorial Cemetery and the Streetsville Cenotaph.
From its beginnings as untouched forestland in the early 1800s to its evolution into an industrial mill town and now a thriving small business hub, Streetsville’s history will come to life with every step.
The Historical Walking Tours run for 1.5 hours in length, but you are welcome to come and go as you please. The tour is free and no pre-registration is required. The tours begin at the clock in the Village Square (Queen St. S and Main St.) Please arrive promptly, wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water. Don’t forget to bring your camera, so you can capture the picturesque scenery Streetsville has to offer. During the tour, you have the opportunity to ask questions and interact with fellow community members.
