Saturday, August 8th – 6:30 to 9:30 pm
Meet at the Streetsville BIA office located at 280 Queen Street South.
The Streetsville Historic Walking Tours will be happening each month all summer long, from mid-June through to the end of October. These Historic Walking Tours in The Village are an outing not to be missed!
Did you know that Streetsville has the highest concentration of historic buildings in Mississauga? These village tours will take you up-close so you can experience Streetsville’s celebrated landmarks firsthand and hear the story behind the buildings that have played such an important part in our village history. The tour will bring to life how the village gradually transformed from nothing but vast forestland in the early 1800’s, to an industrial mill town, into the lucrative small business and service centre that it is today!
Come out for an interesting and engaging tour that will acquaint you with the village, and make you feel a part of Streetsville’s fascinating history.
Along the tour, you will experience many historic landmarks in the village. Some of these key landmarks include: the Montreal House, Timothy Street House, Abigail Street House, The Franklin House, Streetsville United Church, Streetsville Memorial Cemetery and the Streetsville Cenotaph.
The Historical Walking Tours run for three hours in length, but you are welcome to come and go as you please. The tour is free and no pre-registration is required. The tours begin at the Streetsville BIA office located at 280 Queen Street South. Please arrive promptly, wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water. Don’t forget to bring your camera, so you can capture the picturesque scenery Streetsville has to offer. During the tour, you have the opportunity to ask questions and interact with fellow community members.
